Christiania Bikes
"Own a Christiania, and a whole range of tasks become easy. For businesses small and large, a Christiania comes as a great liberator. Without the hassles and expense of owning, parking and fuelling motorised vehicles, you can use the instant mobility and load-carrying capacity of the Christiania to serve your clients better, solve problems swiftly and accomplish tasks that would otherwise be near-impossible."

Andrea Casalotti runs a load-carrying business in London, and Christiania trikes are the mainstays of his fleet. Delivering everything from organic wholefoods to medical supplies, the trikes have proved both versatile and reliable. Andrea has become something of a convert, especially when it comes to explaining how suitable a trike can be for a small business such as his. Small entrepreneurs needing business transport can have an effective vehicle, for loads up to 100kg, at a fraction of the 'cost of entry' of motorised vehicles.

Big business can benefit, too. The PR benefits of delivery by trike can be immense, and among the latest to realise this are Carlsberg, the brewers, who recently chose the Christiania as a mobile vending platform, complete with refrigerated box. Other types of container are also available, from the standard box of 9mm marine plywood to fully-waterproof containers, as used, for example, by the Danish Post Office. Even a child in a wheelchair can be accommodated in a specially-adapted version. Many parents find the Christiania ideal for transporting children: they're in full view, protected by the box, which can be fitted out with bench seat and a waterproof cover complete with windows.

The Christiania Trike itself has been refined over many years. It is available with either hub or derailleur gearing, and has effective hub brakes in each front wheel, with a parking brake provided as standard. Unloaded, the trike weighs about 40kg.
